Abstract

Targeted temperatures management (TTM) has been used to improve neurological and mortality outcomes in patients with cardiac arrest who remain comatose after achieving return of spontaneous circulation. Current guidelines recommend TTM at 32-36oC for at least 24 hours. Various complications are possible during TTM; therefore, close monitoring and prompt intervention are necessary. Many uncertainties about TTM still exit, including optimal target temperature, start time, and duration of therapy. Further studies are warranted to help with better understanding and clinical implementation of TTM.
