The Greek-Turkish Relations After the Failed Coup in Turkey: The Need for Two-Dimensional Reconstruction of the Greek-Turkish Bilateral Ties
Abstract
The failed coup attempt on the night of the 15th July 2016 opened a new page in the modern history of Turkey. The Justice and Development Party's (Ak Party) government succeeded in managing the dynamic of the failed coup and mobilising the nationalist and conservative segments of the Turkish society. These initiatives had an impact on the interior of Turkey, the future of the wider region and of course the future of the Greek-Turkish relations. This paper draws material from Greek and Turkish media outlets and focuses on the future of the bilateral ties between the two countries, after the failed coup of 2016.
