Abstract
Medical providers can encounter Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) across various specialties and a thorough history and physical examination can aid in diagnosis. PCOS can put a patient at an increased risk for developing Diabetes Mellitus and Cardiovascular disease, making early detection and treatment crucial. The current standard of care focuses on lifestyle modifications and multi-drug regimens. New research studies the effect of herbal medicine as adjunct treatment. This article provides clinical information on how to diagnose and treat PCOS, highlights ongoing research, and offers recommendations regarding green tea supplementation
