Abstract

Very early onset IBD (VEO-IBD) is a chronic, progressive inflammatory bowel disorder that presents in pediatric patients less than six years of age. The mechanism of VEO-IBD is distinct from later-onset inflammatory bowel disease in that VEO-IBD is more likely linked to underlying genetic variants and immune deficiencies. Awareness of the key features of this disease must be achieved so that healthcare providers can initiate prompt diagnosis and treatment before complications arise. This poster will discuss the pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment options for VEO-IBD.
