Abstract
Orientalism and how the evolution of Asian roles in American film has changed over the course of 38 years. Going from a wide array of films from different genres and themes within the film. Films such as 16 Candles (1984), Joy Luck Club (1993), and Crazy Rich Asians (2018). Using Edward Said's format of Orientalism, explaining how it has affected the roles of Asian characters and actors/actresses. Furthermore, the paper also talks briefly about the Model Minority and Orientalism in the American Society and how it connects to the perspective of an American about the “Orient”.
