Abstract
There is much scholarship analyzing the relationship between Jean-Michel Basquiat and jazz, a genre which bore many new forms of modern music and continues to influence popular culture. However, very little has been written aboutl Basquiat’s relationship to one of the most prevalent genres to emerge from jazz: hip-hop.
