The Pati Hill Collection arrived at Arcadia University in various boxes. It had been loosely sorted by Pati Hill's assistant, her daughter and a graduate student. It has been determined from looking at photographs of Pati's studio that some of the work was sorted into boxes and labeled prior to her death. However, the archivist had no way of knowing which items were sorted by Pati herself. Please note that there are similar and/or duplicate items located in different boxes and folders, particularly with her unframed artwork. This is due to the fact that it was not always possible to determine to which box or series each image belonged. Where possible there is a notation so researchers can cross reference these images.

The majority of Hill’s artwork was unsigned and untitled. Folder titles are mostly descriptive terms created by the archivist to differentiate groups of images. Any titles written in quotations were taken from the artwork itself or from notes accompanying the artwork and are assumed to be the title given by Pati Hill. All items have been processed to the folder level when possible and the collection, not including oversized and framed works of art, comprises over 250 linear feet.

The finding aids below include Pati Hill’s written material, biographical information, personal and professional scrapbooks, exhibition documentation, audio visual holdings and her unframed artwork (except for oversized works).
